Job summary

ROOP Chicago is seeking a Server Assistant to support our dining team with a mix of busser and runner duties. You will learn to deliver food to tables promptly, help keep tables clean, and assist guests throughout their dining experience.

You will communicate orders to the kitchen and provide menu explanations while maintaining a friendly, calm attitude and physical readiness to handle common restaurant tasks.

Responsibilities

• Delivering food orders from the kitchen to guest tables rapidly and accurately
• Assisting in bussing tables and clearing plates
• Greeting and pouring water for guests when they arrive and throughout their dinner
• Table maintenance and keeping the dining area clean
• Switching plates and silverware between courses to match menus
• Communicating food orders to the kitchen and noting allergies
• Explaining the menu to guests and answering questions about the food
• Maintaining a calm, friendly attitude; physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Job description

We are looking for a Server Assistant to join the team at ROOP. You will be trained to be both a busser and a runner and will get a mix of shifts in those roles.

Job Duties Include:

• Delivering food orders from the kitchen to guest tables rapidly and accurately
• Making sure all plates are consistently plated and garnished and alerting chefs of any issues.
• Assisting in bussing tables and clearing plates
• Greeting and pouring water for guests when they arrive and throughout their dinner.
• Table Maintenance throughout their dinner making sure we are picking up dirty plates and keeping the table clean immaculate
• Switching plates and silverware between appetizers and entrees and dessert.
• Communicating food orders to chefs, paying attention to priorities (e.g. food allergies)
• Explaining the food to guests as you deliver it
• Being knowledgabale about the food in order to answer any questions the guest may have
• Maintaining a calm and friendly attitude at all times
• Must be physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently; and exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
