Summary of Server Position
The Server is responsible for providing friendly, attentive, and efficient service to ensure every guest has an exceptional dining experience. Servers create a welcoming environment, guide guests through the menu, and anticipate guest needs throughout their visit. The primary goal is to deliver outstanding hospitality so guests leave satisfied and eager to return.
Licensing Requirements
- Valid Food Handlers Certification
- Valid Alcohol Service Certification
Duties & Responsibilities
- Welcome and greet guests, ensuring they feel comfortable and receive attentive, personalized service
- Inform guests of specials, menu items, ingredients, and menu changes
- Make guest‑focused recommendations you genuinely feel your guests will enjoy
- Answer questions about food, beverages and other restaurant functions and services
- Take food and beverage orders from guests and enter orders in the point‑of‑sale system
- Deliver food and beverages from kitchen and bar to guests in a timely manner
- Conduct age verification for alcoholic service following ABC requirements and company procedures at all times
- Manage guest liquor consumption effectively and in accordance with ABC requirements and company procedures
- Monitor and observe guests’ dining experience to ensure satisfaction; respond promptly and courteously to any requests
- Perform side work at the start and end of each shift as required by service station assignment
- Maintain clean service areas
- Prepare final bill, present check to guest, accept payment, process credit card charges or make change (if applicable)
- Assist fellow servers and bussers as situations arise
- Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return
- Be available to fill in as needed to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the manager or director
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong customer service and hospitality skills
- Knowledge of menu items, ingredients, and daily specials
- Ability to make menu recommendations and answer guest questions
- Proficiency in basic math and handling cash, credit card, and other payment transactions while operating a point‑of‑sale system
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction
- Team‑oriented with a willingness to assist coworkers
Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Minimum one year experience as a server
- Basic knowledge of dining‑room operations and service procedures
- Authorized to work in the United States
Work Environment / Physical Demands
Expected to keep the work location safe and healthy. Utilize basic safety measures, report concerns to a supervisor, and wear protective clothing, gloves, shoes, or equipment when required. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods; reach, bend, stoop, lift and carry up to 40lbs.; exposure to varying temperatures, hot (kitchen) and cold (walk‑ins).
