Job summary

Miller's Ale House in Woodbridge, CT is seeking an enthusiastic Server to welcome guests and deliver exceptional dining experiences. You will greet guests, follow service steps, assist team members, and handle to-go orders with a positive attitude.

Ideal candidates show strong communication, multitasking ability, cash handling, and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness and safety in a fast-paced restaurant environment. 18+ required and U.S. work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly and acknowledge all Guests within five feet.
• Follow the steps of service as defined by Miller’s Ale House materials.
• Provide highest level of service and create “Ale House Raving Fans.”
• Serve alcoholic beverages in accordance with company standards and state requirements.
• Work with team Members to fulfill Guests’ needs promptly.
• Maintain menu knowledge and address guest questions including allergies.
• Ensure proper food handling and sanitation of work areas.
• Keep work stations clean and stocked for next shift.
• Notify Management of issues affecting guests or service times.
• Assist with To Go station as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Arrives to work on time as scheduled in full uniform
• Greets Guests in a warm and friendly manner while also acknowledging all Guests that come within five feet
• Follows the steps of service as defined in the Miller’s Ale House training materials
• Provides highest level of service by adhering to all Miller’s Ale House service standards, creating “Ale House Raving Fans”
• Serves alcoholic beverages in accordance with company standards and state alcohol service requirements
• Works directly with other Team Members to ensure all Guest’s needs are fulfilled in a timely manner
• Ensures menu knowledge to address Guests’ questions, including food allergy issues
• Ensures proper food handling and sanitation of work areas
• Maintains neat and organized server stations and FOH work areas; to include sweeping and mopping as needed
• Ensures work areas are stocked and ready for the next scheduled server as well as cleanliness upon departure
• Notifies Management immediately of any potential issue with Guests, Team Members, and/or long ticket times
• Works “To Go” station when assigned by Management

SAFETY & SANITATION

• Washes hands every 30 minutes throughout the shift
• Serves all food and alcohol within accordance of company standards and state service requirements
• Maintains clean and sanitized work areas
• Works with Team Members to ensure that safety and sanitation protocol is being executed to company standard

TEAWORK, SKILLS & EDUCATION

• Supports other Front of House functions as needed, ensuring that everything within the 4 walls of the restaurant is every Team Member’s responsibility
• Positively communicates with other Team Members and Management to keep one another informed
• Provides exceptional service throughout the entire shift
• Possesses strong communication skills and the ability to work alone as well as with a team
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work with numbers and handle cash
• Basic reading and handwriting skills with ability to operate the restaurant point-of-sale software
• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age unless otherwise dictated by state law
• Sets up Team Members for success at shift change by ensuring side work and stations are properly stocked

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The Server is expected to be able to perform the job functions with reasonable accommodation. Physical demands include:

• Remain standing for extended periods of time
• Bending, squatting, and lifting, up to 20 lbs., for short distances
• Ability to work with varying noise levels
• Frequent communication with Managers, Team Members and Guests. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
