Avamere Communities in Gresham, OR, is seeking a Server to provide exceptional dining service in a memory care, assisted living, and/or independent living setting. You will take orders, serve meals, and ensure a positive dining experience for residents.

Weekend availability required for FT/PT positions. Proficiency in American Sign Language and tactile sign language is ideal for this role, and wage ranges from $19.10–$24.91 per hour depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Interpersonal skills necessary to establish effective relationships with residents, guests and staff.
• CPR/First Aid Certification required during employment.
• Active Food Handlers card issued by local health department required.
• Compassion for and desire to work with the elderly.

Responsibilities

• Accurately recording and delivering meal and beverage orders from residents.
• Promptly delivering food and beverages to residents, ensuring presentation is attractive.
• Provide attentive and friendly service, checking on residents during meals and addressing requests.
• Set up dining room before meals and maintain cleanliness during service.
• Clear and reset tables after meals for the next service.
• Take and deliver room service orders to residents' apartments.
• Be familiar with menu; answer questions about food and dietary needs.
• Interact with residents and guests professionally to create a welcoming atmosphere.
• Follow food safety and hygiene procedures and sanitation practices.
• Collaborate with wait staff and kitchen staff for smooth service.
• Dispose of food and waste per policy.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

A Server in a memory care, assisted living and/or independent living facility is responsible for providing excellent dining service to residents, ensuring a positive and enjoyable meal experience. This includes tasks like taking orders, serving food and beverages, setting up and clearing tables, maintaining cleanliness, and providing attentive service to residents' needs.

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities

• Accurately recording and delivering meal and beverage orders from residents.
• Promptly and courteously delivering food and beverages to residents, ensuring they are presented attractively.
• Providing attentive and friendly service, checking on residents' needs during meals, and addressing any requests or concerns.
• Assisting with setting up the dining room before meals, including table settings and condiments, and maintaining cleanliness throughout the meal service.
• Clearing tables after meals and resetting them for the next service.
• Taking and delivering room service orders to residents' apartments.
• Being familiar with the menu and able to answer residents' questions about the food and any special dietary needs.
• Interacting with residents and their guests in a professional and courteous manner, creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
• Following all food safety and hygiene procedures, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
• Collaborating with other wait staff and kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient meal service.
• Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies.
• Other duties assigned appropriate to the position.

Requirements

Requirements and Qualifications

• Knowledge of high standards of food service sanitation and safety at a level normally acquired through on-the-job training.
• Requires maintaining high standards of personal hygiene while working, including frequent hand washing and securing hair away from the face.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to establish effective relationships with department workers and with other departments.
• Skill and ability to learn to operate kitchen equipment.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain active CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.
• Requires current Food Handlers card issued by local Health Department.
• Be knowledgeable of dietary practices and procedures, as well as related laws, regulations and pertaining to hospital and nursing home operation.
• Friendly, attentive, and professional demeanor with residents and guests.
• Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information.
