Job summary

Sonny's Patio Pub in Nashville is seeking an energetic server to provide guests with fast, friendly food and beverage service in a busy dining area. You will complete opening and closing duties, perform side-work, and maintain a positive relationship with coworkers.

Must have strong English communication, knowledge of Toast POS, cash handling, and the ability to upsell while describing all menu items. At least two years in a fast-paced restaurant/bar and be 18+ to serve alcohol.

SERVER JOB SUMMARY

Quickly and efficiently provide guests food and beverage service in server’s section in a warm, professional, and accommodating manner. Quickly and efficiently complete all side-work and opening and closing duties associated with position responsibilities. Maintain a positive work environment and positive working relationship with coworkers. Exceed our guests’ service standards and expectations, while adhering to direction from management.

SERVER ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain a positive, high, well-balanced energy level throughout the entire shift
• Have strong interpersonal communication skills in order to greet guests, answer guest questions and address guest concerns in a warm, professional, and accommodating manner
• Provide multiple guests food and beverage service in server’s section in a quick, professional, and efficient manner
• Knowledge of and ability to accurately describe all food and beverage offerings and specials
• Take accurate orders while maximizing sales using selling techniques and product knowledge
• Exhibit consistently dependable, reliable, punctual, and trustworthy conduct
• Provide exemplary guest service on a consistent basis
• Correct and accurate execution of the POS system
• Follow all proper cash handling procedures and guidelines
• Perform all service in compliance with all ABC laws and Company policies that relate to the service of alcoholic beverages and the prohibition against over-service, serving intoxicated patrons and serving minors
• Complete any and all assigned cleaning duties, including stocking and organization
• Perform all assigned side-work quickly and efficiently
• Properly set up and break down stations before and after operating hours

SERVER SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY

• Knowledge of Teamwork and Toast POS system
• Ability to read, write and speak the English language to interact with guests, the public, and coworkers
• Proficient verbal communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and professionally deal with stressful situations during busy periods in a loud, busy, and crowded environment
• Strong interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfaction
• Must have extensive knowledge of food and beverage etiquette, guest relations and service standards
• Knowledge of proper food handling requirements
• Knowledge of bar and kitchen items
• Basic mathematical skills
• Knowledge of daily maintenance and cleaning of venue
• Must have knowledge of all required legal documents, i.e., A.B.C., Health Department, Police, City, Etc.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred

Experience

• Minimum of two years’ experience in a fast-paced restaurant/bar
• Must be at least 18 to meet minimum age requirement of the State of Tennessee to serve alcoholic beverages

Licenses or Certificates

• ServSafe certification preferred
• ABC Server permit preferred
• CPR certification and/or First Aid training preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING ENVIRONMENT

• Must be able to work in an environment with constantly elevated temperatures
• Must be able to work and move quickly in a tight-space environment in a safe manner without disrupting other employees
• Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs.
