Job summary

Southside Diner in Mount Vernon, Ohio is seeking positive and energetic servers to share the Southside experience with our customers. This fast-paced restaurant thrives on great guest service and teamwork.

We offer tipping with hourly pay, flexible schedules, employee discounts, advancement opportunities and bi-annual performance raises. Training is provided on the job, and reliable transportation is helpful for shifts Tuesday through Saturday mornings to evenings.

Qualifications

• Some serving experience in full-service restaurant preferred, training provided.
• Must be upbeat, outgoing and positive.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work effectively within a team.
• Basic math skills.
• High school graduate or GED preferred.
• Reliable source of transportation.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome guests with a smile, inviting them back as they leave.
• Help guests select food and beverages by presenting menu, suggesting courses, presenting daily specials, answering food preparation queries.
• Transmit orders to kitchen by recording guests' choices, identifying patrons' special dietary needs and special requests.
• Respond to additional guest requirements by inquiring of needs; observing dining process and being responsive at all times.
• Maintain table settings by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils; refilling water glasses; being alert to patron spills or other special needs.
• Protects establishment and guests by adhering to sanitation, safety policies.
