Job summary

Ascent Hospitality is seeking a Server to warmly welcome and seat guests, take orders, and deliver food and beverages with outstanding guest service in a hotel restaurant.

The role emphasizes teamwork, flexibility, and a positive attitude. Current staff must be able to work flexible shifts, including holidays, with benefits such as health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k with employer MATCH, and paid PTO. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months customer service or hospitality experience preferred.
• TIPS certification within 30 days (if not certified).
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet all guests with a warm welcome and assist with seating as needed.
• Provide fast, friendly, professional service and respond to guests and staff.
• Take and deliver orders, serve food and beverages according to standards.
• Maintain knowledge of menu items and daily specials.
• Operate the POS system accurately and efficiently.
• Assist with restaurant setup, cleanliness and restocking as needed.

Position: Server

The Server is responsible for welcoming and sitting guests comfortably as well as serving food and/or beverages while delivering outstanding guest service. Responsibilities include following a daily schedule, performing proper set-up, maintenance, and break-down of the restaurant and providing excellent guest service and satisfaction.

Essential Functions

• Greet all guests with eye contact and a warm welcome as they enter the dining area.
• Maintain a proactive guest service approach at all times.
• Assist with seating guests as needed (in the absence of the hostess).
• Provide fast, friendly, professional, and responsive customer service to hotel & restaurant guests & staff.
• Serve food and beverage in accordance with standards and in a professional courteous manner.
• Maintain knowledge of all menu items and composition.
• Adhere to all Brand Standards regarding Food and Beverage and Service.
• Assist with the set up and cleanliness of the Restaurant.
• Assist with clearing and set-up of tables.
• Assist with restocking of supplies as needed.
• Communicate effectively with Management and other Team Members.
• Use Point of Sale (POS) system as required.
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor/manager.
• Perform special daily projects assigned by supervisor/manager.

Specific Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Must be able to understand, read, write and speak English above a basic level, to effectively communicate with Team Members and Guests.
• Must maintain a neat and professional appearance upholding Company appearance standards at all times.
• Must be able to apply commonsense understanding, in carrying out instructions.
• Must be able to comply in standardized situations with only occasional or no variation.
• Must be available to work flexible shifts, including Holidays.
• Must be able to work without constant supervision.
• Must be able to work well as a part of a team.
• Must be engaging with all guests throughout meal periods; responding to guests and Team Members as required.

Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to stand for long periods of time on hard surface; using arms, hands and legs repetitively; handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to walk, balance, talk, hear and smell.
• Must be able to work with cleaning chemicals, warm temperature and able to work with all food products.
• Must regularly be able to carry and balance up to 25 pounds without assistance.
• Must be capable of effectively using close vision, distance vision, color vision and sense of smell.
• Able to operate in mentally and physically stressful situations.

Qualification Standards

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Six months Customer Service, hotel or restaurant experience preferred, but not required.
• Must have excellent customer service skills.
• Must obtain TIPS certification within 30 days (if not certified).
• Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer/client focus.
