Job summary

Ascent Hospitality in Meridian, MS seeks a friendly Server to welcome guests, seat them, and deliver food and beverages with outstanding service. You will maintain knowledge of menu items, work with the POS system, and collaborate with team members to ensure smooth service.

The ideal candidate will have strong English communication, a positive attitude, and the ability to work flexible shifts, including holidays. Prior hospitality experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with restaurant setup, bus and reset tables as needed.

Ascent Hospitality is looking for a uniquely qualified hospitality leader to join our team as Server! The Server is responsible for welcoming and sitting guests comfortably as well as serving food and/or beverages while delivering outstanding guest service. Responsibilities include following a daily schedule, performing proper set-up, maintenance, and break-down of the restaurant and providing excellent guest service and satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Greet all guest with eye contact and a warm welcome as they enter the dining area.
• Maintain a proactive guest service approach at all times.
• Assist with seating guests as needed (in the absence of the hostess)
• Provide fast, friendly professional and responsive customer service to hotel & restaurant guest & staff.
• Serve food and beverage in accordance with standards and in a professional courteous manner.
• Maintain knowledge of all menu items and composition
• Adhere to all Brand Standards regarding Food and Beverage and Service
• Assist with the set up and cleanliness of the Restaurant.
• Assist with clearing and set-up of tables
• Assist with restocking of supplies as needed
• Communicate effectively with Management and other Team Members
• Use Point of Sale (POS) system as required
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor/ manager.
• Perform special daily projects assigned by supervisor/ manager

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Must be able to understand, read, write and speak English above a basic level, to effectively communicate with Team Members and Guests.
• Must maintain a neat and professional appearance upholding Company appearance standards at all times.
• Must be able to apply commonsense understanding, in carrying out instructions
• Must be able to comply in standardized situations with only occasional or no variation.
• Must be available to work flexible shifts, including Holidays.
• Must be able to work without constant supervision.
• Must be able to work well as a part of a team.
• Must be engaging with all guest throughout meal periods; responding to guest and Team Members as required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to stand for long periods of time on hard surface; using arms, hands and legs repetitively; handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to walk, balance, talk, hear and smell.
• Must be able to work with cleaning chemicals, warm temperature and able to work with all food products.
• Must regularly be able to carry and balance up to 25 pounds without assistance.
• Must be capable of effectively using close vision, distance vision, color vision and sense of smell.
• Able to operate in mentally and physically stressful situations

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Six months Customer Service, hotel or restaurant experience preferred, but not required.
• Must have excellent customer service skills
• Must obtain TIPS certification within 30 days (if not certified).
• Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer/client focus.
