Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; and two to four years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve food and beverages to residents according to orders and instructions.
  • Load trays with utensils, napkins, and condiments for service.
  • Monitor food distribution to ensure correct recipients and adherence to special diet guidelines.
  • Relay orders to kitchens or serving counters for fulfillment.
  • Sanitize and maintain serving areas and beverage stations daily.
  • Assist in kitchen area in culinary tasks as needed.
  • Complete online ALF training and required courses.
  • Maintain proper dress code and personal hygiene at workstation.
  • Adhere to HACCP regulations where applicable.

Summary: Providence Living guests are service staff’s number one priority. Serving food to our residents, with a performance of excellence, which is second to none. Serving beverages to our residents, with a performance of excellence, quality and promptness. Maintaining all areas of service, in an orderly, sanitary and uniform fashion to comply with all Florida health state regulations. All Service staff must attain a Serv Safe Food Handler Certificate. All Service staff must wear hair restraints and slip resistant shoes while serving.

Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Places food servings on plates or trays according to orders or instructions. Examines food trays to ensure that they contain required items. Loads of trays with accessories such as eating utensils, napkins, or condiments.

  • Removes trays and stacks dishes for return to kitchen after meals are finished.

  • Monitors food distribution, ensuring that meals are delivered to the correct recipients and that guidelines, such as those for special diets, are followed.

  • Determines where patients or patrons would like to eat their meals and helps them get situated.

  • Maintains and sanitizes all serving staff areas and beverage areas daily.

  • Prepares food items, such as sandwiches, salads, soups, or beverages if needed.

  • Takes food orders and relays orders to kitchens or serving counters so they can be filled.

  • Stocks service stations with items such as ice, napkins, or straws.

  • Performs side work duties as assigned daily to your workstation.

  • Cleans or sterilizes dishes, kitchen utensils, equipment, or flatware, when needed.

  • All occurrences in the dining area, should be absorbed as a responsibility by the server pertaining to our guest.

  • Workstations must be checked by manager before exiting shift.

  • Adheres to HACCP regulations when applicable.

  • There should be no loitering in other areas of our facility, dining and kitchen areas are server’s primary area.

  • Ensures wait staff station is orderly and clean with ongoing shift.

  • Ensures ultimate guest satisfaction.

  • Projects a positive, friendly and helpful demeanor when serving our guests.

  • Follows Providence living steps of service in dining areas , as applicable, according to steps of service sheet.

  • Carries food, silverware, or linen on trays or use carts to carry trays.

  • Completes all online ALF training classes required.

  • Comes to workstation daily with proper dress code at designated time.

  • Assists in kitchen area, specifically in a culinary aspect, to assist when needed.

  • Assists on a daily basis in cleaning and sanitizing any areas that need this attention.

  • Constantly be aware of stocking all wait station areas , beverages, and refrigerators with beverages being stocked as needed.

  • Cognizant of all Providence Living Maitland guests and their needs, and communicates immediate needs of emergency to management, when referring to our guests or team members.

Language Ability

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software, able to comprehend simple word documents pertaining to job duties, recipes, and other regulatory specifications for Providence Living Maitland, contact management systems, and able to read and execute systems in our pos systems to calculate, and punch in orders for our guests.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specialized Training
  • Gourmet or high end service a big plus

  • ALF training required, online specific to job

  • Have worked in atmosphere of foodservice which trained steps of service in a dining area

Certificates and Licenses
  • CPR training required

  • Serv Safe Food Handlers Certificate needed within first 30 days of employment

Equipment
  • Service beverage machine knowledge a plus

  • Use of knives for garnish cutting (i.e. lemons, oranges. etc.)

  • Proper handling of waitstaff trays and proper carrying procedures

  • Use and knowledge of Pinnacle POS System

Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities
  • Possess great communication skills when applying to food service environment

  • Greet all residents with respect, dignity, and uplifting atmosphere
