Job summary

San Manuel invites applications for a Linguist I to support Serrano language revitalization within the Education Department. You will help develop cultural materials and assist with the Serrano fluency transfer system for use in classrooms and community programs.

Reporting to the Manager of Linguistics, you will contribute to program planning, archival work, and educational workshops, while collaborating with teachers, students, and tribal citizens to promote language learning and preservation

Qualifications

• Must be willing to learn Serrano language.
• Strong research, oral and written workshop skills.
• Experience with desktop publishing and audio materials.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing cultural and curricular materials and the Serrano FTS.
• Support language revitalization planning aligned with the 2040 Vision.
• Assist archival work of Serrano language recordings for teaching materials.
• Record, edit, and maintain Serrano audio projects; organize community events.
• Create reports on language retention and revitalization discussed at conferences.
• Support department operations as needed.
