Job summary

Osceola County Sheriff's Office is seeking candidates for a role within the Internal Affairs (IA) and Intelligence Unit (IU). The position supports an entry management level, assists in managing inmate and group security risks, and helps develop and disseminate information related to inmates in criminal street gangs and misconduct by Corrections Department Employees.

  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive Internal Affairs & Intelligence Section information.
  • Supervise, train and evaluate staff and the daily functions and operations of the IA & IU.
  • Interview complainant(s), witnesses, and employees to gather evidence and facts related to alleged violations of Department and County Policy & Procedures, and present written findings in clear, concise and impartial reports.
  • Overall supervision of the Inmate Drug Testing Program.
  • Interview inmates to gather information related to assigned duties and prepare clear and concise written reports.
  • Provide training to certified and non-certified staff related to the functions of the IA & IU.
  • Represent the Department at various law enforcement meetings and court proceedings.
  • Reviews all submitted paperwork for proper format, accuracy, punctuation, thoroughness

General Description of Duties

Under general direction, the purpose of the position is to assist in the organization and efficient operation of the Internal Affairs (IA) and Intelligence Unit (IU), which consists of certified and civilian staff members. Employees in this classification function at an entry management level. Identifies and effectively manages any inmate and/or group of inmates that present an elevated security risk. Assists in developing, investigating, and disseminating information related to inmates involved in criminal street gangs and assists in conducting high priority investigation of alleged criminal acts or acts of serious misconduct by Corrections Department Employees. or other activity detrimental to the general welfare and safety of the Corrections staff, volunteers and inmates. Work is performed with independence under general supervision of the Internal Affairs & Intelligence Section Lieutenant, and work performance is reviewed by examination of records, reports, and results achieved.
