Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking staff to assist and oversee STG information collection from inmates, share intelligence across the agency, and disseminate intelligence to supervisors. The role includes supervising STG officers, coordinating with committees, gathering evidence, and monitoring inmate STG populations within institutions.

Also involved are hearings, status evaluations, and unannounced rounds to ensure procedural compliance.

Qualifications

Education

High School Diploma

Bachelor's degree may substitute for experience

Correctional/security/military/police experience preferred

Job description

• Gather STG-related evidence and Intelligence.

• Monitor STG populations within institutions.

• Represent the statewide STG coordinator at STG member designation hearings.

• Assist with inmate STG status evaluations.

• Make unannounced rounds to Institutions to ensure procedural compliance and timelines are met by Intelligence staff.

• Assist with duties assigned by the statewide STG coordinator.

Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

• A high school diploma and eighteen (18) months experience in correctional, security, military, or police work.

• A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for half of required experience.

• Must be certified by the SCDC training academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
