The MTA Police D epartment is seeking qualified members of the d epartment who are interested in being assigned to the Fleet Services Unit as a Sergeant .
Responsibilities of the Fleet Services Unit Sergeant include, but are not limited to:
Oversee Officers, and support staff assigned to the Fleet Services Unit.
Manage the acquisition, maintenance, repair, and decommissioning of all department vehicles, ensuring operational readiness and compliance with departmental policies.
Oversee vehicle procurement processes, including development of technical specifications, bid evaluations, and coordination with vendors.
Ensure proper maintenance scheduling and recordkeeping for preventive and corrective vehicle maintenance.
Monitor fleet inventory levels, including marked, unmarked, specialty, and support vehicles, ensuring equitable distribution among commands and units.
Supervise the installation and maintenance of emergency equipment, vehicle markings, and technology (e.g., radios, mobile data terminals, cameras).
Develop and implement fleet-related policies, procedures, and safety standards in alignment with department directives.
Review and approve maintenance work orders, vehicle assignments, and expenditures to ensure accountability and cost-efficiency.
Oversee fleet replacement planning and develop long-term vehicle acquisition strategies.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, safety standards, and applicable local, state, and federal vehicle laws.
Coordinate emergency vehicle support and recovery operations during large-scale incidents or department-wide mobilizations.
Additional duties as assigned by the Commanding Officer of Administrative Services Bureau.
