The Merrimack County Department of Corrections serves the community and its criminal justice system by providing security, supervision, and assistance to persons remanded to our custody. Our policy is to meet or exceed the standards set by the American Correctional Association, the National Commission of Correctional Healthcare, the New Hampshire Association of Counties, and the Merrimack County Board of Commissioners.

Assists the Lieutenants in providing day-to-day supervision to officers assigned to his/her command, conduct performance evaluations and take corrective or disciplinary action when appropriate. Review and enforce discipline, orderly behavior and confinement of incarcerated inmates as well as to ensure security within the correctional facility.

EDUCATION: Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE: Five years of correctional experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Certified Correctional Officer by the New Hampshire Association of Counties. Must hold a valid New Hampshire driver’s license.

A drug screen & background check will be required of all conditional hires.
