A leading government agency in South Carolina is seeking a Correctional Supervisor to oversee security personnel and ensure inmate safety. The role involves conducting inspections, investigating misconduct, and preparing reports. Candidates should have relevant experience and a high school diploma, with a bachelor's degree as a substitute for experience. Successful completion of SCDC Basic Training is required upon hire.
Under the general supervision of the Shift Lieutenant, the Correctional Supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision of subordinate security personnel assigned to the unit and for the custody and control of all inmates in the housing units.
Make routine inspections of living areas to ensure compliance with security, safety, and sanitation standards.
Investigate alleged misconduct by inmates and security personnel within the area of responsibility.
Assist in conducting formal and informal inmate counts.
Supervise the job performance, conduct, and appearance of security personnel and prepare employee evaluations.
Counsel, recommend disciplinary actions, and train staff to meet performance standards.
Prepare reports as required.
Perform duties of the Shift Lieutenant when necessary.
Note: Must successfully complete an eight-week SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

State of South Carolina: A high school diploma and relevant experience; a bachelor's degree may substitute for experience.
SCDC: Eighteen months of experience in correctional, security, military, or police work; a degree in criminal justice or a related field may substitute for half of the experience; certification by the SCDC training academy and successful completion of the basic supervisory course within six months are required.
