Job summary

Google is seeking a Hardware Engineer in Sunnyvale, CA, to join the Platforms Infrastructure Engineering team. You will perform electrical characterization and validation of high-speed SerDes interfaces, contributing to silicon evaluation powering Google's services.

You will operate advanced lab benches, run automated test frameworks, triage anomalies, and document results to inform design decisions across projects in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field.
• 2 years in hardware lab with high-speed test instrumentation.
• Experience with Python for test automation or data processing.

Responsibilities

• Execute electrical characterization and validation for high-speed SerDes interfaces in the lab.
• Operate lab benches with oscilloscopes, BERTs, temperature chambers, logic analyzers, and precision power supplies.
• Run automated test frameworks to sweep voltage, temperature and process corners (PVT).
• Triage measurement failures, perform basic root-cause analysis, and assist engineers with debugging.
• Maintain test setups, calibrate equipment, verify RF cable integrity, and present results and trends.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field
