Health Information Alliance is seeking a Sepsis Data Abstractor (Remote, PRN).

Join HIA's growing team of dedicated professionals who continually improve our services to clients. We offer abstracting services for current cases, backlogs, reports, and other specialized services, providing outsourcing solutions to our clients.

  • This is a Subcontractor Position (1099).
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week.
  • 100% remote position.
Job Summary

The Data Abstractor’s key responsibility is to collect and submit accurate, complete, and timely data to the registry or measure data repository, through high-quality data compilation, documentation, and data entry of procedures performed and/or disease treatment at the contracted facility into the registry or vendor platform.

Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of current experience with Sepsis Abstraction (Clinical Data Abstraction) of specified measure/registry core measures.
  • Superior knowledge of core measure requirements.
  • Experience with IQR, OQR, IPFQR, and other quality reporting programs that utilize core measures.
  • Experience with core measure data collection applications.
Qualifications
  • Same as requirements above.
Preferred Skills
  • Use of continuous quality improvement tools and techniques, and computer skills for data display.
  • Attention to detail and follow-up.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with patients, families, hospital staff, physicians, and community resources.
  • Ability to work independently.
Educational Requirements

The ideal candidate must possess:

  • A degree from an accredited nursing program, CAHIIM accredited program, or other healthcare program.
  • Healthcare credentials related to their program of study.
  • Other healthcare information abstraction and coding credentials are desirable.
General Requirements

The candidate should demonstrate:

  • Commitment, reliability, and consistent availability.
  • Communication skills, responsiveness, and computer literacy (Excel, web browsers, email, electronic health records).
  • Familiarity with security tools, data collection, and abstraction applications.
  • Ability to maintain skills and stay current with rules and guidelines.
  • At least 5 years of current experience in Sepsis Abstraction.
  • Motivation and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and tactfulness.
  • Background and drug screening may be required.

This is a subcontractor (1099) position requiring 20 hours per week.
