Job summary

Mentor A Promise in New York City is seeking an SEO Specialist to boost our digital presence and attract donors, volunteers, and partners. You will develop and execute strategies to raise organic rankings and drive targeted traffic to program pages, blogs, and landing pages.

Work with content, design, and engineering teams to implement on‑page and technical optimization. Monitor performance with GA4 and Search Console, conduct keyword research, and report findings with actionable recommendations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, CS, Communications, or related field (or equivalent).
• 2+ years of experience in Search Engine Optimization.
• Strong understanding of technical, on-page, and content optimization.
• Experience with GA4, GSC, GTM, and Bing Webmaster Tools.
• Familiarity with SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, or Screaming Frog.
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WordPress.
• Experience optimizing speed, mobile usability, and Core Web Vitals.
• Strong analytical and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive on-page and off-page SEO strategies.
• Conduct keyword research aligned with programs and nonprofit initiatives.
• Optimize website content, landing pages, blog articles, and program pages for search engines.
• Perform technical SEO audits and collaborate with developers to resolve issues.
• Monitor website health, crawl-ability, indexing, and Core Web Vitals.
• Optimize metadata, headings, URLs, internal linking, schema markup, and image SEO.
• Create and maintain XML sitemaps and robots.txt files.
• Track keyword rankings, organic traffic, conversions, and engagement metrics.
• Collaborate with content writers, designers, developers, and marketing teams.
• Identify backlink opportunities and support digital outreach initiatives.
• Stay updated with search engine changes and recommend improvements.
• Prepare monthly SEO performance reports with actionable insights.
