Job description

MongoDB’s mission is to empower innovators to create, transform, and disrupt industries by unleashing the power of software and data. We enable organizations of all sizes to easily build, scale, and run modern applications by helping them modernize legacy workloads, embrace innovation, and unleash AI. Our industry-leading developer data platform, MongoDB Atlas, is the only globally distributed, multi-cloud database and is available in more than 115 regions across AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. Atlas allows customers to build and run applications anywhere—on premises, or across cloud providers. With offices worldwide and over 175,000 new developers signing up to use MongoDB every month, it’s no wonder that leading organizations, like Samsung and Toyota, trust MongoDB to build next-generation, AI-powered applications.

About the Role

As a member of MongoDB’s Digital Acquisition team, the SEO Manager will create keyword-optimized content targeting developers using search engines or LLMs to conduct research and make purchase decisions. You will be responsible for leading projects through the complete lifecycle, including keyword research and opportunity analysis, managing contractors for writing support or identifying in-house SMEs, providing SEO recommendations and reviews, tracking performance after publication, and working with web teams to promote awareness and adoption of MongoDB’s products and services.

We’re seeking an analytical, curious, and data-driven individual. This role requires robust project management skills, steering many projects simultaneously and strategically prioritizing in the face of roadblocks. You should be extremely comfortable driving cross-functional collaboration and building relationships, as well as running independent analyses and communicating impact to non-marketers.

This role can be based remotely in the United States.

In particular, you will
  • Help us rise to the challenge of AEO, and integrate LLM optimization into our SEO content strategies on owned and third-party platforms. Keep abreast of the latest SEO trends, algorithm updates, tools, and best practices. Proactively recommend and implement new strategies and tactics
  • Conduct comprehensive keyword research to identify high-potential, nonbranded search terms relevant to our target audience and business objectives. Analyze search volume, competition, and user intent to prioritize opportunities. Collaborate with internal SMEs to identify up-and-coming trends before they start driving volume
  • Provide clear and actionable SEO guidance to content creators (internal and external) to ensure all content is optimized for target keywords, on-page SEO elements (title tags, meta descriptions, headings, etc.), user experience, and accessibility
  • Work closely with marketing, content, and potentially product teams to ensure content strategy aligns with overall marketing goals and product roadmaps. Effectively communicate SEO insights and recommendations
  • Track, analyze, and report on key SEO metrics, including organic traffic, keyword rankings, engagement, and conversions. Identify trends, insights, and areas for improvement
  • Maintain a strong understanding of technical SEO best practices and collaborate with relevant teams to address any technical issues that may impact organic performance
  • Regularly analyze competitor strategies and identify opportunities to differentiate our content and outrank them in search results
  • Effectively utilize tools for SEO research (e.g., Conductor, Ahrefs, ScreamingFrog), analytics and BI tools (e.g., Google Search Console, Tableau, Google or Adobe Analytics), and project management (e.g., Jira)
Requirements
  • Motivated self-starter with an eye for details. Must be able to work independently on multiple projects and prioritize time in an impact-driven environment
  • 5+ years of proven experience as an SEO, with a strong focus on nonbranded keyword targeting, content strategy, and connecting your content to business outcomes
  • Deep understanding of traditional keyword research methodologies, search engine algorithms, and ranking factors, as well as a compelling interest in how we can learn and manipulate the algorithms and evaluative metrics used by LLMs
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and translate it into actionable insights
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex SEO concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally, influencing, and managing SEO expectations from technical and non-technical stakeholders

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience in business-to-consumer marketing to developers, engineers, or other technical audiences
  • Experience optimizing for LLM-produced results including Google AIO, ChatGPT, and Perplexity
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), especially headless CMS
  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Marketing, Communication, Analytics, or a related discipline, is preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with technical SEO principles
