Position Details

The Sentinel Mission Defense Team (MDT) is looking for a System-Theoretic Process Analysis for Security (STPA-Sec) Engineer, Level 2 or 3, based in Roy, Utah, with potential relocation assistance. The role involves combining traditional Systems Engineering with holistic system analysis to identify security, safety, or availability issues using guidelines, security frameworks (NIST, ISO, NISPOM), and MBSE tools.

Responsibilities
  1. Apply Systems Engineering principles and holistic analysis to uncover system issues using STPA guidelines and MBSE.
  2. Decompose systems to identify causal scenarios, control structures, and unsafe actions.
  3. Assess threats, vulnerabilities, and risks for critical functions and components.
  4. Lead and fulfill Statement of Work requirements, milestones, and program commitments.
  5. Lead working groups and communicate risks to stakeholders.
  6. Proactively take workplace actions without prompting.
  7. Support MDT with additional duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance within the last 6 years.
  • Ability to obtain and pass security clearance screening.
Level 3 Specific Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in STEM with 5 years of experience, or Master’s with 3 years, or PhD with 1 year.
  • At least 2 years applying Systems Security Engineering principles in Defense Programs.
  • Effective communication skills for technical presentations.
  • Experience applying safety and analytical methodologies to complex systems.
  • Experience working against schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active Top-Secret clearance with SAP access.
  • Experience with ICBM Systems, Program Protection, and SSE principles across security measures.
  • Development of security requirements for hardware/software assurance.
  • Risk management experience.
  • Familiarity with MBSE tools like CAMEO and DOORS.
Benefits & Schedule

Full-time employment with benefits including health coverage, educational assistance, life insurance, paid time off, wellness resources, and employee discounts. The role follows a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off. Salary ranges from $81,300 to $130,900, based on experience and qualifications.
