Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Staff Systems Engineer - Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) in Roy, UT to drive physics-based modeling for Sentinel ICBM accuracy. You will lead engineers, develop and validate accuracy models, and present results to leadership and government customers.

Qualifications

  • Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope
  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain SAP approval within a reasonable period
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM with a minimum 12 years of related experience; 10 years with Masters; 8 years with PhD
  • Must be able to work on site for 90% of total work time
  • Experience with physics-based mathematical modeling and simulation
  • Proficiency in scientific programming (Python, C++/C#, SQL, MATLAB, R)
  • Experience with Agile Development and tools (JIRA/Confluence)
  • Experience with SEIT processes
  • Experience leading a diverse team
  • Strong communication skills for high-value customer presentations

Responsibilities

  • Lead a diverse team of engineers on Sentinel ICBM accuracy projects

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking to hire a Staff Systems Engineer - Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) to join the team. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program in the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) division. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

What you will get to do

As a Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis Systems Engineer, you will lead a diverse team of engineers on a variety of projects supporting Sentinel intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) weapon system accuracy. The candidate will support completion of the following projects:

  • Physics-based predictive modeling and simulation of ICBM accuracy performance
  • Maturation of Sentinel accuracy error models
  • Post flight estimation of Sentinel accuracy performance
  • Estimation of accuracy error model parameters using ground and flight test data
  • Validation & verification (V&V) of Sentinel accuracy error models
  • Preparation of Sentinel accuracy reports
  • Presentations of projects and studies to Northrop Grumman Sentinel leadership and USG customers
Basic Qualifications
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline with a minimum 12 years of related experience; 10 Years with Masters; 8 Years with PhD
  • Must be able to support program tasks in a secure lab environment (on site) for a minimum of 90% of their total work time
  • Demonstrated experience with physics-based mathematical modeling and simulation
  • Proficiency in scientific computer programming (Python, C++/C#, SQL, MATLAB, R or similar)
  • Experience with Agile Development Agile methodologies and tools (JIRA/Confluence)
  • Experience working with Systems Engineering and Integration and Test (SEIT) processes
  • Experience leading a diverse team of engineers at multiple levels
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Able to receive Special Access Program (SAP) approval and maintain it as determined by the company to meet its business need
  • Experience modeling with Cameo Enterprise Architecture, MagicDraw (No Magic, Inc.) or other architecture modeling tools
  • Experience with ICBM weapon system sustainment engineering and integration
  • Experience managing requirements in DOORS
  • Experience executing and boarding Risks, Issues & Opportunities
  • Experience collaborating with multiple functional groups, subcontracts, and government customer representatives
  • Proactive self-starter capable of identifying gaps and problems in/with processes and proposing and implementing solutions

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Salary Range

Primary Level Salary Range: $152,900.00 - $229,300.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
