Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Roy, Utah, is seeking a Staff Structural Engineer to support the Sentinel program on site. You will analyze, research and develop structural engineering specifications for metals, composites and other materials used in defense systems.

Ideal candidates have 12+ years in static structural analyses with ABAQUS/FEMAP/ANSYS, extensive documentation experience, and US citizenship with ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM with 12 years of experience, 10 years with Master's degree, or 8 years with PhD.
  • 10+ Yrs of experience performing static structural analyses and closed form calculations.
  • 10+ Yrs of experience with ABAQUS, FEMAP, or ANSYS FEA software.
  • 10+ Yrs of experience creating analysis documentation and presenting results to peers and leadership.
  • Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance, or currently hold an active clearance and investigation completed within the last 5 years.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, research and develop structural engineering specifications for product design and operation across structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and maintenance designs.
  • Analyze damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling.
  • Utilize NX, ANSYS, and other engineering software applications for analysis and validation.
  • Support the Sentinel program with innovative structural analysis solutions.

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Structural Engineer. This position will be located located in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel program.

What You Will Get To Do

Analyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design, or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs. Analyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling. Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue and thermal analysis. Tools utilized may include NX, ANSYS, and a variety of engineering software applications.

As part of the Sentinel Support Equipment team, your technical expertise and analytical prowess will play a vital role in structural analysis. This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 12 years of experience, 10 years of experience with Master's degree, 8 years with PhD.
  • 10+ Yrs of experience performing static structural analyses and closed form calculations.
  • 10+ Yrs of experience with ABAQUS, FEMAP, or ANSYS FEA software.
  • 10+ Yrs of experience creating analysis documentation and presenting results to peers and leadership.
  • Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance, or currently hold an active clearance and investigation completed within the last 5 years.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience navigating Siemens NX CAD and Teamcenter CPLM.
  • Experience supporting Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) or other missile design and deployment programs/projects.
  • Experience in fast-paced design and analysis environments.
  • Exposure to requirements development with systems engineering processes.
  • Experience performing dynamic structural analyses (modal, shock, vibration, transient loading).
  • Experience in fatigue analysis of steel and aluminum components.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and ability to interface with multiple disciplines.
  • A history of independently completing tasks and on-the-fly problem solving.
  • Experience with ANSYS software.

Primary Level Salary Range: $152,900.00 - $229,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
