Northrop Grumman is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer for the Sentinel GBSD program, based on-site in Roy, UT. The role involves leading PDP development within an IPT, interfacing with suppliers, customers, and cross-functional teams to engineer solutions for complex problems.

The candidate will verify designs, create CAD models, and ensure on-time PDP delivery. Required are a mechanical engineering degree, 12+ years of experience, U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement deployable mechanical mechanisms verified through test/analysis.
  • Develop CAD models visualizing design solutions.
  • Implement PDP processes and engineering board approvals for PDPs.
  • Deliver PDPs on time to meet program objectives.
  • Integrate PDPs with element teams to avoid design clashes.
  • Identify gaps in design/requirements and provide cost-effective resolutions.
  • Ensure PDPs meet design requirements from specifications.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives related to PDP development and release.

Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer on the Command Systems Hardware team. This position is in our Strategic Deterrent Systems Division to execute the Engineering and Manufacturing Development phase of the Sentinel Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. This position will be located on-site in Roy, UT and may require additional on-site support at product manufacturing and integration sites.

The qualified candidate will work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, interfacing with IPT leadership, suppliers, customers, and other technical disciplines to engineer design solutions to challenging problems through the development of Product Definition Packages (PDP).

Roles And Responsibilities
  • Create and implement deployable mechanical mechanisms that are verified through test/analysis
  • Develop CAD models visualizing various design solutions
  • Implement program processes and engineering board approval processes for developed PDPs
  • Deliver required PDPs on time to meet program objectives
  • Integrate Infrastructure Integration PDPs with the various element teams to proactively eliminate disconnects and design clashes
  • Identify gaps within a design and/or requirements and provide a resolution that is cost effective, innovative, and has minimal impact to others
  • Ensure the developed PDPs meet the design requirements from the various element/configured item specifications
  • Support digital transformation initiatives relating to PDP development and release
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM discipline
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. citizen
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business
  • Experience with design/fabrication techniques for structural details, assemblies, and/or installations
  • Experience with 3-D modeling tools
  • Experience using product lifecycle management (PLM) tools
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active Secret clearance at time of application, current and within scope
  • ICBM Experience
  • Experience in creating a Product Definition Package (PDP) or PDP like products
  • Experience with the ASME Y14.X suite of engineering drawing standards
  • Ability to work closely with multiple functional organizations (Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Field Operations, etc.)

Primary Level Salary Range: $139,000.00 - $208,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
