Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer or Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Roy, UT to support the Sentinel (GBSD) program. This role is contingent on contract award and involves working in a cross-disciplinary environment to design hardware and assemblies that meet decomposed requirements and architecture diagrams.

You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, apply NX CAD tools, and develop design artifacts for formal reviews while leveraging

Qualifications

  • Requires a STEM degree with 2 years related experience; or a master’s with 1 year (principal level: 5y with Bachelors or 3y with Masters)
  • Must be a US citizen with active Secret clearance; SAP access ability.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and engineering scheduling tools.

Responsibilities

  • Join a team of Mechanical, Electrical and Hardware Integration engineers to design hardware systems and components.
  • Apply ASME processes to identify, design, and procure hardware.
  • Support design of integrated assemblies to decompose requirements and architecture diagrams for the Sentinel program.
  • Create design artifacts including 3D models and product definition packages using NX and PLM tools.

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer or Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This position will be located at Roy, UT to support the Sentinel (GBSD) program in the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) Division. This position will support the Sentinel Program's Command Systems team. This position may be filled at a higher level based on qualifications below. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Roles And Responsibilities
  • Join a team of Mechanical, Electrical and Hardware Integration engineers to design hardware systems and components.
  • Apply ASME standard processes and procedures to identify, design, and procure electrical and mechanical hardware.
  • Support design of integrated assemblies in accordance with decomposed requirements, compliance documents, and architecture diagrams in order to support the Sentinel critical design review campaign.
  • Assist in trade studies, Analysis of Alternatives, and create design artifacts to include 3-dimensional models and product definition packages which will be documented and released using Siemens- based Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and modeling (NX) tools.
  • Operate in and capture inputs from a multi-disciplinary engineering environment consisting of Systems, Software, Design, Compliance, and Hardware engineers.
Basic Qualifications

This position may be filled at a Mechanical Engineer level or at a Principal Mechanical Engineer level

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 2 years of related experience; or a master’s degree with 1 year of related experience (Principal level requires 5 years with a bachelor's; or 3 years with a master's)
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
  • Requires experience with Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, Power Point, and Engineering Scheduling tools and applications.
  • Requires experience performing CAD modeling with design tools such as Siemens NX or similar
  • Requires experience resolving issues and providing technical support
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience deriving hardware-level requirements from interface, compliance, and performance requirements
  • Experience designing and generating control drawings and assemblies of systems using commercially-sourced hardware components
  • Experience developing hardware design materials in support of program design reviews for review with team technical leads and program stakeholders
  • Experience conducting design reviews as the design author and briefing solution designs to program leadership and stakeholders for release into product baseline
  • Understanding of structural analysis concerns as applied to designing mechanical systems
  • Teamcenter CPLM experience
  • Experience using the electrical workbench within NX or similar CAD software for cable routing purposes
  • Capable of working under general supervision and in team environments

This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Primary Level Salary Range: $72,100.00 - $108,100.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
