Position Overview

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer. This position is located in Colorado Springs, CO and Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

What You’ll Get To Do

The Sentinel program offers an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer to join the team supporting activities including use case development, requirements definition / allocation, functional decomposition, interface definition, verification & validation, and requirements traceability.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Collaborate with program IPT counterparts to develop supporting systems engineering and design artifacts.
  2. Work with technical teams and stakeholders to develop and mature architecture content of large programs design.
  3. Help develop and incorporate the appropriate requirements for the system and ensure proper representation in the model.
  4. Contribute to system requirements development, management, and analysis.
  5. Develop unifying model techniques, procedures, and processes (for model development, tool integration, and team integration).
  6. Experience in generation or review of design artifacts to support System Safety analyses for weapon system safety and support flight test and flight worthiness of complex systems.

The standard work schedule is a 9/80, allowing employees to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Job Qualifications

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of experience with Bachelor's, 6 years with Master's, or 4 years with PhD.
  • Must be a US Citizen with an Active DoD Secret Clearance within the last 6 years.
  • Ability to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances.
  • 5 years' experience with C/C++, Java, object-oriented design, or similar.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are desired.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with MIL-STD-882E or similar processes for hardware/software design development.
  • Experience in Engineering and Manufacturing Development phases.
  • Software development or coding experience.
  • Experience with DO-178 for design development.
  • Experience developing in an Agile environment.
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering experience.
  • Experience developing missile flight systems software.
  • Certifications such as ASP / CSP.
  • Weapon System experience (e.g., Minuteman III).

Salary Range: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00. Compensation factors include scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Benefits include health insurance, life/disability insurance, savings plan, paid holidays, and PTO. The application period is approximately 20 days, subject to change.
