Sr. Principal Reliability Engineer (RAM) – Level 4
Location: Roy, UT. This position supports the Sentinel program for the Air Force’s sustainment of ICBM launch systems and associated infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert reliability guidance and subject‑matter expertise across the program.
- Lead and participate in reliability engineering reviews, ensuring compliance with program and DoD requirements.
- Conduct independent reliability analyses, including FMEA/FMECA, fault‑tree analysis, reliability growth modeling, and statistical evaluations.
- Develop and execute reliability test plans, design‑of‑experiments, and environmental testing strategies to obtain statistically valid data.
- Perform root‑cause analysis and FRACAS, driving corrective actions to meet reliability objectives.
- Liaise with systems engineers and cross‑functional teams to integrate reliability practices into system design and maintenance.
- Develop and maintain reliability models, predictions, and life‑cycle cost analyses to inform risk‑reduction decisions.
- Provide reliability‑focused risk assessments, Basis of Estimates, and support decision‑making for technology maturation.
- Mentor and coordinate reliability activities across multiple disciplines, sharing best practices and knowledge.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards, metrics, and documentation for the reliability program and reporting.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 8 years of related engineering experience.
- Master’s degree with 6 years of related experience.
- PhD with 4 years of related experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, with an investigation completed within the last 6 years.
- Must have the ability to obtain Top Secret clearance and SAP approval within a reasonable period.
- 2 years of experience with root‑cause analysis, FRACAS, and FMEA/FMECA (or equivalent reliability‑engineering techniques).
- 2 years of experience conducting reliability testing, statistical analysis (DOE, reliability growth), and developing quantitative reliability models.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active DoD Top Secret Clearance.
- Active SAP security clearance.
- Hands‑on experience performing reliability, availability, maintainability (RAM), FRACAS, ESS, reliability testing, fault‑tree analysis, and sparing analysis.
- Experience with life‑cycle cost analysis, reliability modeling, and risk‑based decision support.
- Proven ability to produce detailed risk assessments and Basis of Estimates for defense acquisition programs.

Standard work schedule: 9/80 (nine‑hour days Monday‑Thursday, every other Friday off).
Salary range: $111,700.00 – $167,500.00. Additional compensation may include overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and long‑term incentives for senior positions.
