Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking engineers to work on Interface Control Models (ICMs) and NX-based space allocations, interfacing with IPTs, suppliers, and customers. The role emphasizes solving complex problems with design and rigorous reviews.

Candidates should have a STEM degree with relevant experience, US citizenship, and the ability to obtain SAP and Secret clearance. The position includes 9/80 schedule and relocation support if offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5 years of related experience; or a master’s degree with 3 years of related experience (Sr. Principal level requires 8 years with a bachelor’s; or 6 years with a master’s).
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
  • Requires 1 year of experience with systems engineering principles and processes.
  • Requires 1 year of proven knowledge of design tools including TeamCenter/NX.
  • Requires 1 year of proven experience to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Requires 1 year experience with design and fabrication techniques for structural details, assemblies, and installations.
  • Requires 1 year of experience in creating an ICM or ICM like product.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, interfacing with IPT leadership, suppliers, customers, and other technical disciplines to engineer design solutions to challenging problems through the development of Interface Control Models (ICM). ICMs consists of 3D models (NX) for space allocation and interface detail for all Command and Launch (C&L) facilities and equipment.
  • Create and implement 3D CAD (NX) models that define space allocation and interface detail.
  • Support the ICM team in capturing interface detail through design and board reviews.
  • Implement program processes and engineering board approval processes for developed ICMs.
  • Deliver required ICMs on time to meet program objectives.
  • Integrate Interface Design ICMs with the various element teams to proactively eliminate disconnects and design clashes.
  • Identify gaps and holes within the design and/or requirements and provide a path forward for resolution that is cost effective, innovative, and has minimal impact to others while filling the gap/hole.
  • Ensure the developed ICMs meet the design requirements from the various element/configured item specifications.
  • Determine technical solution in accordance with product specifications and recommend actions to representatives for coordinated product solution.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives relating to ICM development and release.
Basic Qualifications
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 5 years of related experience; or a master’s degree with 3 years of related experience (Sr. Principal level requires 8 years with a bachelor’s; or 6 years with a master’s).

  • Able to work independently, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction.
  • ICBM Experience.
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations.
  • Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Experience in leading/supporting a development engineering team.
  • Demonstrated experience working with customers to ensure project success.
  • Experience in performing in an Agile environment and knowledge/understanding of JIRA.

This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine‑hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Primary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 – $134,200.00. Secondary Level Salary Range: $111,700.00 – $167,500.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
