Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer / Sr Principal Electrical Engineer. This position is located in Huntsville, AL or Colorado Springs, CO and supports the Sentinel program.

This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

What You’ll Get To Do:

1. Design of electrical systems in accordance with scope of work.
2. Evaluate vendor documents to ensure specifications and data sheet requirements are met.
3. Review documentation such as schematics, diagrams, equipment data sheets, hazard area classification drawings, and electrical analysis or studies developed by other engineers and designers.
4. Review application of codes and standards for compliance and correct interpretation of Electrical designs.
5. Participate in the delivery of Electrical design Technical Data Packages (TDP), Issue-for-Construction (IFC) packages, as-built TDPs, PDPs, interface models, and additional design artifacts.
6. Analyze trade studies to evaluate alternative design solutions to resolve technical issues.
7. Develop and present design change requests, coordinate with impacted stakeholders to ensure configuration control of the technical baseline.
8. Identify risks and opportunities associated with design factors.
9. Develop and mature Electrical designs that meet Weapon System requirements, UFC, MIL-STD, and other applicable codes and regulations.
10. Follow documented processes, specifications, and procedures supporting the design and manufacture of electrical commodities.
11. Collaborate and communicate with multi-functional teams and all stakeholders.
12. Provide guidance and mentorship during project execution.
13. Work independently with minimal supervision, maintaining a positive demeanor and high ethics.
14. Proactively seek information and direction to successfully complete the work.

Work Schedule:

This position follows a 9/80 schedule, allowing employees to take every other Friday off.

Job Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either the Principal or Sr Principal level, with respective qualifications:

• Principal Electrical Engineer: Bachelor’s in STEM + 5 years experience, or 3 years with Master’s, or 4 years with PhD.
• Sr Principal Electrical Engineer: Bachelor’s in STEM + 8 years experience, or 6 years with Master’s, or 4 years with PhD.

Required for Both Levels:

• US Citizen with active DoD Secret Clearance (current within last 6 years)
• Ability to obtain and maintain SAP approval
• Knowledge of electrical design and analysis principles
• Experience with electrical/power systems, cable/harness, circuit card, controls systems
• Experience with Mentor Graphics Capital/Xpedition or equivalents
• Proficiency with MS Office and engineering scheduling tools
• Experience reviewing engineering specifications and translating customer requirements
• Ability to work independently and in teams

Nice to Have Qualifications include experience with ETAP, electrical CAD, external customer interaction, reliability engineering, MATLAB, Teamcenter, process improvement, Agile, and data transmission formats.

Salary Range in Colorado:

• Principal Electrical Engineer: $95,300 - $158,000
• Sr Principal Electrical Engineer: $124,900 - $187,300
