Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a qualified additive to work on trajectory simulation and missile targeting software. You will develop and analyze numerical methods, support mission-level simulations, and contribute to cutting-edge aerospace systems in a secure environment.

Responsibilities include executing simulations, validating models, and delivering trajectory profiles for real-world missions while maintaining DoD clearance and SAP eligibility. Relocation may be considered.

Qualifications

  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SAP approval
  • Modeling, simulation, and analysis experience for aerospace vehicles

Responsibilities

  • Execute trajectory simulation tools in 3 and 6 degrees of freedom and develop missile-targeting algorithms
  • Perform trajectory analyses covering payload range, post-boost maneuvers, and flight-test predictions

What you will get to do:

Executing trajectory simulation tools, both in 3 and 6 degrees of freedom, analyzing the results of those simulations, developing algorithms for missile targeting software Implementing numerical methods, as well as other missile models.

Trajectory simulations support, but are not limited to, payload to range, post boost vehicle maneuverability, weapon system effectiveness, accuracy, vehicle environment characterization, and flight test predictions.

Missile targeting software generates trajectory profiles to be used when carrying out the mission.

Basic Requirements
  • T02: 2 Years with Bachelors in Science; 0 Years with Masters
  • T03: 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Year with PhD
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 years
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
  • Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis experience of Aerospace Vehicles through either professional work experience or education performing physics based simulation and analysis
  • Experience with Git
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred to have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
  • C++ programming experience
  • Experience with mission level simulations (Red vs. Blue, e.g. ITASE, AFSIM, HLA Federations, etc.)
  • Experience with missile modeling and trajectory simulation
  • Proficiency with C++, MATLAB, and python
  • Experience using TAOS to model trajectories
  • Experience using AFSIM for mission level simulations

This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Relocation assistance may be available for this position.

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.

Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.

In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
