Job Overview
Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking an Industrial Engineer to support the Sentinel program in Roy, UT. The role focuses on process improvement, scheduling, and manufacturing readiness across the supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Strong foundation in Industrial Engineering fundamentals (Production Intervals, Cycle Time, Takt Time, Standard Hour Content, Time Studies, EVMS, Continuous Improvement, Scheduling, Capacity Analysis, Facility Layouts).
- Track lab hardware deliveries and maintain detailed schedules and metrics to report status to upper leadership.
- Develop and maintain SQDEC (Schedule, Quality, Delivery, Employee, Cost) boards with various metrics on a daily basis.
- Understand principles of capacity (efficiencies, standards, constraints, etc.).
- Knowledge of manufacturing flows and how they interface with shop floor and Global Supply Chain.
- Develop labor standards and work measurement; create standard hour content for new scope.
- Perform shop floor time studies on manufacturing and test activities.
- Work with functional teams to understand scheduling requirements at implementation sites.
- Create detailed manufacturing waterfall schedules with setbacks to independent demands.
- Utilize process improvement methodology (value stream mapping, employee engagement techniques, flow reduction, etc.).
- Design and optimize shop floor/facility layouts.
- Understand cost management principles (Earned Value, Milestone payments).
- Conduct Manufacturing Readiness Assessments (MRAs) with suppliers.
- Engage and collaborate with product teams and functional organizations across all levels to interpret manufacturing facilitation and scheduling requirements.
- Document, track, and monitor problems to ensure timely resolution.
- Leverage strong organizational, planning, and decision‑making skills and work effectively within interdisciplinary teams.
- Coordinate with larger teams at different site locations.
- Create and present technical briefings for upper management and technical leadership.

Schedule
This position follows a 9/80 schedule; employees work nine‑hour days Monday through Thursday and have every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications
- 2 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, Operations Research, Data Analytics, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain an interim Secret Security clearance pre‑start and a final Secret Security clearance post‑start within a reasonable period.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period.
- Experience in industrial engineering, manufacturing operations, production planning, or proposal estimating within aerospace, defense, or complex manufacturing.
- Experience developing bases of estimate, labor estimates, staffing plans, capacity models, or proposal inputs.
- Strong Excel modeling, presentation, and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing flow, production scheduling, capacity, and how shop floor execution interfaces with supply chain and quality.
- Department of Defense (DoD) Secret (Interim) security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the aerospace and/or defense industry.
- Experience working in Engineering, Manufacturing, and Development (EMD) phases of a program.
- Experience in a lab and test environment.
- Knowledge of SAP, MES, AutoCAD, and FlexSim (or other discrete simulation programs) tools and concepts.
- Ability to create and automate industrial engineering performance metrics.
- Experience with project management and manufacturing schedules.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Salary
Primary Level Salary Range: $72,100.00 – $108,100.00.
