<h3><b>Sensory Communication Facilitator</b></h3><p>9-months, Monday-Friday; 6.5 hours/day; .813 FTE<br>Salary: $21.36/hour</p><ul><li>FULLY PAID INSURANCE</li><li>PERS RETIREMENT</li><li>VACATION/SICK DAYS</li></ul><h3>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</h3><h3><b>1. PROVIDES SERVICES TO STUDENTS WHO REQUIRE AN ALTERNATIVE MODE OF COMMUNICATION DUE TO A SENSORY DISABILITY BY</b></h3><p>may include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.</p><ul><li>Preparing the students materials using various methods to include: Braille, enlarged print, auditory tapes, CCTV, tactile graphics, or technology as directed by the teacher of the blind or visually impaired</li><li>During the lesson presentation, determining the best possible way to present a lesson for a student or adapt the lesson to meet the student's needs</li><li>Teaching Braille, mobility, low vision aids and other strategies required by the student as planned by the teacher</li><li>Implementing instruction or tutoring visually impaired students in academic curricula</li><li>Assisting the visually impaired students with daily living tasks emphasizing independence</li></ul><h3><b>2. PROVIDES ASSISTANCE TO THE TEACHER BY</b></h3><ul><li>Evaluating accessibility of the classroom</li><li>Recording observations of the effectiveness of provided services and instructional strategies</li><li>Recommending needed modifications, adaptations, equipment, strategies, and methodologies</li><li>Attending, upon request, CST, IEP, parent meetings, and school</li></ul><h3><b>3. PROVIDES SUPPORT BY</b></h3><ul><li>Instructing staff in the usage of CCTV, mobility training/cane, Braille embosser, Braille writer, slate and stylus, computer usage, low vision aids and telescopic aids for the blind or visually impaired</li></ul><p>This position is assigned to the Vision Program. That department makes staff assignments to specific schools based on student needs. The program direction comes from the department with input from building level staff.</p><h3>QUALIFICATIONS:</h3><p>To perform this job successfully, an employee must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
