Job summary

LRS Consulting Services is seeking a Senior z/OS Systems Programmer to provide ongoing operational support for a large-scale mainframe environment. This hands-on role installs and supports z/OS software, maintains system stability, and handles configuration changes with minimal oversight.

The ideal candidate has deep z/OS experience across SYSPLEX environments and can operate independently. The role covers CICS, DFSMS, security subsystems, IOCP/IOCDS upgrades, and capacity planning.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a z/OS Systems Programmer (senior-level candidates with 10+ years strongly preferred).
• Deep understanding of how z/OS and its subsystems are configured and managed.
• Strong PD/PSI problem determination skills.
• Proficiency with TSO, ISPF, JES2, SDSF, USS, DFSMS, and WLM.
• Experience with dataset management, ICF cataloging, and z/OS subsystems.
• Permanent US work authorization without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute hardware and software upgrades and configuration changes across z/OS environments.
• Perform SMP/E installation and customization of z/OS and related software products.
• Provide systems programming support for z/OS, CICS, DFSMS, storage administration, and security subsystems (RACF, ACF2).
• Maintain and update WLM configurations for performance tuning and workload optimization.
• Manage DFHSM across multiple LPARs and SYSPLEX environments.
• Troubleshoot system issues using IPCS dump analysis and online technical support tools.
• Automate operations and develop REXX execs, CLISTs, and SAS programs for system monitoring and DASD management.
• Perform capacity planning and support disaster recovery testing for mainframe environments.
• Train and mentor system operators and application programmers as needed.
• Perform integration testing of new products with existing applications and procedures.
