Duration: 4+ Months Contract

Job Overview:

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our mainframe database systems, with a focus on DB2, IMS/DB, data sharing, and related systems.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements, provide technical leadership, and drive initiatives to enhance the performance, reliability, and security of our DB2 and IMS/DB environments. Experience working with a managed service provider is essential.

Must Have Required Skills:

1. Maintaining DB2 and IMS/DB database systems

2. Effective communication skills--ability to speak with the expert in the room. Ability to speak to stakeholders, infrastructure teams

3. Senior SME of the project, being accountable for working with SP to solve problems and optimize database systems.

4. Proficient with database system backup and disaster recovery.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related experience ( at least 7 years)

2. 7 years of experience as a Database System Programmer, System Administrator, or System Engineer, with expertise in DB2, and IMS/DB system administration and programming.

3. Proficiency in DB2 and IMS/DB subsystem/region design, implementation, administration, and security.

4. Experience with managed service providers and off shore support teams.

5. Strong understanding of database and database management system performance tuning and optimization with tools like Omegamon and SYSView.

6. Experience with database security concepts, tools, and regulatory compliance.

7. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex database issues.

8. Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

9. Proven leadership abilities, including experience leading technical projects and mentoring junior team members.

10. Relevant certifications in DB2, or IMS/DB are a plus.
