Job summary

City of Temple, TX is seeking a Senior Youth Leader to supervise Afterschool participants and various recreational activities. This is a seasonal position requiring flexibility, including weekends and holidays.

You will lead a Youth Leader team, develop lesson plans for children ages 5-13, ensure safety, and support city recreation centers and events. CPR/First Aid and food handler credentials or the ability to obtain them within 90 days are required.

Qualifications

• Two years of high school completed or equivalent.
• Equivalent of one season working in a childcare environment.
• CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Food handler license or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the safety and well-being of program participants.
• Supervises children aged 5-13 in various indoor and outdoor settings, adapting to different weather conditions.
• Develops, leads, and supervises assigned recreation programs/activities, after school sites, recreation centers, rental facilities, and events for participants of all ages.
• Serves meals and snacks to program participants as needed.
• Leads and supervises assigned Youth Leader team.
• Develops and implements lesson plans for children ages 5-13 in areas of recreation, adventure, education, and enrichment.
• Provides exceptional service without exception; effectively communicates with children, parents, co-workers, and other City employees.
• Receives money, records registration, and membership information.
• Performs facility attendant duties for recreation centers and rental facilities.
• Oversees inventory and property management.
• Performs daily tasks to include cleaning, answering phones, and general office related tasks.
• Maintains essential records, prepares reports as required; to include but not limited to participation reports, usage reports, accident reports, and work orders.
• Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Summary

Minimum Qualifications

• Completion of two (2) years of high school
• Equivalent of one season working in a childcare environment (one (1) school year)

Preferred Qualifications

• One (1) year experience working in a related field
• Bilingual in English and Spanish

Certificates and Licenses

• Valid driver's license
• CPR and First aid or able to attain within 90 days
• Food handler license or able to attain within 90 days
