Job summary

Think Together in Sylmar, CA is seeking an Older Youth Leader (OYLS) to work part-time with a class of 20-25 students, serving as a positive adult role model, coach and mentor. You will provide homework help, academic enrichment, and physical activity using program materials, creating an engaging, supportive environment.

Requirements include 48 college units or a Bachelor's degree, ability to speak/write Standard English, at least 22 years old, bi-literate Spanish preferred, and pass background

Qualifications

• Must have 48 college semester or 60 college quarter units OR a Bachelor's Degree.
• Ability to speak and write Standard English, appropriate for a public school setting.
• Minimum age of 22 and experience with 10+ students in educational/afterschool contexts.
• Bi-literate in Spanish preferred to support English-learners.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a positive adult role model for older youth in the program.
• Provide homework assistance, academic enrichment and physical activity.
• Create an engaging environment fostering belonging among older youth.
• Support youth in positive behavior choices and apply appropriate disciplinary measures.
• Engage youth by following and assisting in lesson plans.
