Job summary

The Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA) in Madison is seeking a Senior Writer/Editor to shape compelling stories for On Wisconsin, the UW–Madison alumni magazine, and to lead the awards publication.

You will collaborate with staff and freelancers to produce engaging narratives, manage writers and photographers, and drive digital distribution and SEO for broad readership across print and online channels.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications arts, or similar field.
  • 7+ years in journalism, writing, publishing, or related field.
  • Knowledge of magazine publishing.
  • Knowledge of multimedia and digital publishing and social media content development.
  • Experience working with writers and designers.
  • Familiarity with InDesign and Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Familiarity with MS Office software and Mac operating systems.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with WFAA and OSC to produce On Wisconsin and plan/execute each issue.
  • Lead strategy for On Wisconsin’s digital channels and SEO/distribution.
  • Hire/manage freelance writers and secure visuals.
  • Coordinate with printer to ensure timely, on-budget production.
  • Share story ideas and success metrics with leadership.
