Job summary

Chubb is seeking a Workers' Compensation Counsel to join the Global Litigation team in Philadelphia. The role focuses on providing legal support for litigation, coverage, and compliance with an office-based schedule and occasional flexibility.

The position requires a Juris Doctor, U.S. licensure, 8+ years of experience, and travel as needed. You will coordinate with claims, regulatory teams and leadership to shape strategy and drive effective resolutions.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited U.S. law school.
• Licensed to practice law in the U.S.
• Undergraduate degree from an accredited U.S. or foreign university.
• Strong technical background in the workers' compensation discipline.
• Project/Change Management experience coordinating cross-discipline teams.
• Proven analytical, organizational and communication skills.
• Experience with Influence Management initiatives demanding collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Litigation: Oversee civil actions involving workers' compensation disputes nationwide; manage outside counsel and discovery; assist with trial preparations.
• Appeals: Direct strategy for appeals to state intermediate and appellate courts; assess precedent and industry impact.
• Regulatory Compliance and Complaint Response: Respond to regulator inquiries; manage DoI and BBB complaints.
• Coverage: Provide coverage advice on complex workers' compensation matters; review policy language and obligations.
• Government Affairs: Liaise with State Government Affairs on trends and proposed legislation changes.
• International: Support Employers' Liability and Foreign Voluntary coverage issues as needed.
• Claims Support: Advise on coverage, regulatory compliance, Medicare and other legal issues to internal teams.
• Training and Guidance: Deliver training on compliance and litigation topics; promote best practices.

Education

Juris Doctor degree

Licensed to practice law in the U.S.

Undergraduate degree

Strong technical background in workers' compensation

Project/Change Management experience

Analytical, organizational and communication skills
