Job summary

Athens Administrators seeks a Senior Claims Examiner to manage California workers’ compensation claims from inception to settlement. The role supports offices statewide; occasional in-office presence is required for those within 26 miles of Concord or Orange.

Remote days are allowed when technical requirements are met, within a Mon-Fri, 37.5-hour week. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in WC claims handling, strong knowledge of laws, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required for all positions
• AA/AS or BA/BS preferred but not required
• Administrators Certificate from Self-Insurance Plans required within one year
• 3+ years recent workers compensation claims handling experience required
• At least 5 years workers compensation claims experience preferred
• Solid knowledge of workers compensation laws, policies, and procedures
• Proficiency in determining case value and negotiating settlements
• Understanding of medical and legal terminology
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn additional programs
• Ability to multi-task and maintain confidentiality
• Integrity and team orientation in handling sensitive information

Responsibilities

• Adjust workers’ compensation claims from inception through settlement and closure
• Ensure timely processing of claims and payment of benefits
• Manage and direct medical treatment, set reserves, and negotiate settlements
