Job summary

Jobot is seeking a seasoned workers’ compensation attorney to join our hospital-system legal team in Illinois. You will defend high-volume workers’ compensation matters, advise senior leadership on risk and strategy, and coordinate with outside counsel to execute cost-effective litigation plans.

The ideal candidate has a JD with an Illinois bar, 8+ years of workers’ compensation experience, and a proven ability to balance legal risk with business goals under pressure.

Qualifications

• JD and active bar license in good standing in Illinois.
• Strong executive presence and clear communication to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Handle a high-volume caseload of up to 50 matters per month and oversee defense strategy.
• Provide practical legal advice and risk assessments to business leaders and HR on workers’ compensation issues.
• Oversee outside counsel and coordinate litigation strategy for cost-effective results.
• Draft and review settlement agreements, pleadings, and related documents.
• Represent the company at hearings, depositions, and mediations as needed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align legal strategies with business objectives.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of workers’ compensation statutes, regulations, and case law.
