Job summary

NJ TRANSIT is looking for a skilled professional to conduct maintenance on digital communications systems in Newark, New Jersey. This role requires 5+ years of experience in maintaining large-scale wireless systems, advanced knowledge of RF theory, and familiarity with FCC regulations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in operations and maintenance of large, multi-site, digital wireless communications systems.
• Fluent in Microsoft Office 265 including Microsoft Teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct proactive and reactive maintenance on communication systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair electronic communications systems.
• Analyze alarm data logs and plan corrective actions.
• Respond to trouble tickets in a timely manner.
• Provide weekly status reports on active projects.

Skills

Understanding of trunking, microwave, and antenna RF theory

Advanced understanding of land-mobile radio systems engineering principles

Knowledge of Federal Communications Commission rules and regulations

Operational knowledge of LMR air interface technologies

Proficient knowledge of networking and protocols

Understanding of emergency/UPS power systems

Experience with Computer-Aided Dispatch systems

Project management experience

Excellent presentation and writing skills

Education

Completion of a technical training or degree program in electronics
