Job summary

The City of Huntsville’s ITS department is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to manage server systems software/hardware and related infrastructure in a Microsoft Windows environment. Responsibilities include provisioning, installation, configuration, and maintenance across LAN/WAN, with end-user support for desktop and server OS.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in a related field, plus 5 years of Windows admin experience and VMware/SAN familiarity.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Current certification in Microsoft methodologies (i.e., MCSA, MCSE) is highly desired.
Knowledge, Training, Or Experience With VMware Software Is Desired.
Experience with server virtualization and Storage Area Network (SAN) technology is highly desired.
Five (5) years of current Microsoft Windows System Administrator work experience is desired.

Responsibilities

Provision, install, configure, operate and maintain server systems software/hardware across LAN or WAN.
Provide end-user technical support for desktop and server operating systems and applications.
Plan and execute installation, configuration, maintenance and testing of server software/hardware.
Support City departments by maintaining robust and secure Windows-based infrastructure.
