Job summary

Partner One Capital is seeking a highly experienced Senior Microsoft Windows SQL Server DBA to own enterprise databases, drive performance, and mentor junior DBAs. You will partner with development, infrastructure, and business stakeholders to ensure secure, highly available database systems that meet end-to-end performance goals.

In this on-call role you will architect and maintain SQL Server 2019/2025 across Windows Server, implement backup, HA/DR, and security controls, and lead change

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on SQL Server DBA experience in large-scale production.
• Expert SQL Server 2019/2025 on Windows Server 2019/2022.
• Advanced T-SQL, including performance tuning.
• Experience with Always On AG, WSFC, DR failover.
• Strong security, auditing, encryption, least-privilege.
• Leadership and mentoring of junior DBAs; ITIL familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Architect, install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances across Windows.
• Lead performance engineering: analyze execution plans & optimize queries with dev teams.
• Monitor performance using Extended Events, DMVs, Wait Stats; baseline and alerting.
• Design backup/recovery strategies with RTO/RPO targets and drills.
• Architect and maintain HA/DR with Always On and Log Shipping.
• Govern security with RBAC, auditing, encryption in line with least-privilege.
• Own capacity planning and storage forecasting; collaborate with infra teams.
• Review schema migrations and deployment scripts before production.
• Automate routine DBA tasks with PowerShell and SQL Agent.
• Manage patching and upgrades via formal change management.
• Mentor junior DBAs and contribute to team knowledge base.
