Job summary

ASM Research is seeking a System Administrator to manage day-to-day on-prem infrastructure for a DOE environment. You will administer Windows Server platforms, perform patching, backups, incident response, and support security posture maintenance across multiple systems.

The role requires 7–10 years in IT or systems administration, a Bachelor's (Master's preferred), and certifications such as CompTIA A+ or ITIL. U.S. citizenship and ability to pass a federal background check are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• CompTIA A+ or ITIL certification preferred.
• 7–10 years of experience in IT or systems administration or related field.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to pass a federal background check required.

Responsibilities

• Administer Windows Server environments, including installation, configuration, upgrades, security patches, and maintenance.
• Monitor backup/storage systems, troubleshoot alerts, and ensure recovery readiness.
• Perform vulnerability scanning and remediation using Tenable/Nessus; collaborate with EITS on scan outcomes.
• Support incident response, triage technical issues, and document remediation actions.
• Participate in infrastructure initiatives (e.g., Windows 2016 retirement, IIS/logging enhancements) and security evidence preparation.
• Support operational security hygiene through service account review and password rotation coordination.
• Contribute to documentation and Records Management collaboration across CMEI program offices.
