Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Windows Engineer in Washington, D.C. for 100% onsite work to design, deploy, and support a Windows-based infrastructure.

The role emphasizes MECM administration, Active Directory, patch management, and security controls to ensure high availability and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a Top Secret clearance, MECM expertise, strong PowerShell/Bash scripting skills, and experience with VMware virtualization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 10+ years of system administration and engineering experience.
• Active Top Secret clearance required.
• IAT II Certification (e.g., Sec+, CySA+) required.
• Microsoft certifications highly preferred (MCSE, MCSA).
• Must have experience deploying and administering MECM.
• PowerShell and Bash scripting for automation and troubleshooting.
• Experience with VMware virtualization.
• Experience maintaining Active Directory and Group Policy.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and support Windows servers and workstations.
• Deploy and maintain MECM for endpoint management.
• Manage OS patching, upgrades, and security updates.
• Monitor server health and performance; troubleshoot issues.
• Administer Active Directory and GPOs.
• Implement security controls and vulnerability remediation.
• Manage backup and disaster recovery planning.
• Automate tasks with PowerShell/Bash; document procedures.
• Collaborate with vendors for issue resolution and SSL renewals.
• Evaluate architectures and improve performance and resiliency.
• Support IIS and web technologies; ensure reliable hosting.
