Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a Senior Wind Hub Technician for the Oklahoma Hub 2 sites. You will work locally on turbine operations, safety, quality control and warranty repairs, coordinating with site leads to meet contract requirements.

Role requires extensive wind troubleshooting experience, willingness to travel up to 100%, and ability to operate at height and in demanding environments. Competitive benefits and relocation support are offered.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of wind trouble-shooting experience, or 5+ years with lead/EHS/SQC exposure
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and climb towers up to 300 feet daily
  • Meet and maintain manufacturer weight limits up to 300 lbs with gear
  • Able to work in industrial, manufacturing and power facilities
  • Must be adaptable to rotating shifts and on-call site needs
  • Occasional overnights may be required

Job description

Job Description Summary: The Senior Wind Hub Technician position requires local travel within the hub. The Senior Wind Hub Technician is a critical and active role to maintain optimal function and output at the wind site by working daily on turbine operations, safety, quality control and warranty repair(s). The Senior Wind Hub Technician partners and communicates with the Site Lead and Manager to execute on contract requirements and timelines and ensures alignment with GE excellence!

Essential Responsibilities
  • Work with site/hub leadership to execute contractual obligations per customer requirements and activities set forth on a daily basis, which include any portion of the electrical and mechanical equipment used in the GE wind turbine generator;
  • Apply extensive understanding of variable pitch & speed turbines and converter parts;
  • Read, understand and explain schematics, drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations;
  • Adhere to all Environmental Health and Safety processes and regulations and all applicable compliance requirements;
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch & variable speed turbines;
  • Help in all areas of site operations as directed by manager with minimal supervision, observing all safety requirements;
  • Effectively perform diagnostic analysis and generate plan for timely resolution and document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures and work with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary;
  • Mentor peers;

Qualifications / Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED, and Ability to pass Technical Knowledge Assessment, and 4+ years of wind trouble‑shooting experience, and 1+ year EHS, SQC, Lead role, or 5+ years of wind trouble‑shooting experience, and Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment;
  • Basic computer skills;
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license;
  • Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time;
  • Handle repetitive weight - 50 lbs. and climb towers up to 300 feet daily;
  • Meet and maintain specified manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300lbs including required gear;
  • Ability and willingness to work in range of environments to include but not limited to industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, and power industry facilities;
  • Effectively prioritize work according to contract obligations;
  • Ability and willingness to take initiative, and work without direct supervision, and Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules, and on‑call per site needs;
  • Occasional overnights may be required per hub needs.
Desired Characteristics
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field from an accredited college or university;
  • Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical / Electronic field;
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of personnel at all levels inside and outside of the Wind Farm;
  • Wind turbine experience;
  • Ability and willingness to take initiative, and work without direct supervision;
  • Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience;
  • Experience using hydraulic power tools;
  • Experience with heavy equipment required for facility maintenance with a working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements.
Location

Work location: all wind sites within Oklahoma Hub 2. You are expected to work at all sites within this Hub and report to work at any site within this Hub as assigned by your manager. This is not a remote or travel position.

Compensation

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the base pay for this position is $43.18 - $46.10. For candidates applying to a U.S. based position only, The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
