Senior Wind Hub Technician - OK 1 (Liberal, KS Area)

GE Vernova is seeking a Senior Wind Hub Technician to maintain optimal function and output at the wind site by working daily on turbine operations, safety, quality control, and warranty repairs. The role requires local travel within the hub and coordination with site leadership to meet contract requirements and timelines.

Overview

The Senior Wind Hub Technician position requires local travel within the hub and is a critical and active role to maintain the wind site operations.

Responsibilities
  • Work with site/hub leadership to execute contractual obligations per customer requirements and daily activities related to electrical and mechanical equipment used in the GE wind turbine generator.
  • Apply extensive understanding of variable pitch & speed turbines and converter parts.
  • Read, understand, and explain schematics, drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations.
  • Adhere to Environmental Health and Safety processes and regulations and all applicable compliance requirements.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch & variable speed turbines.
  • Assist in all areas of site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision, observing safety requirements.
  • Perform diagnostic analysis and generate a plan for timely resolution.
  • Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures.
  • Collaborate with GE’s remote operations center when necessary.
  • Help in all areas of site operations as directed by the manager and mentor peers.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to pass Technical Knowledge Assessment
  • Minimum of 4 years of wind trouble-shooting experience, and at least 1 year in EHS, SQC, or Lead role, or
  • Minimum of 6 years of wind trouble-shooting experience, or
  • Minimum of 3 years of wind trouble-shooting experience AND Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
Eligibility Requirements
  • Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time
  • Ability and willingness to lift up to 45 lbs unassisted and climb towers of 300+ feet
  • Meet and maintain specified manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300 lbs including required gear
  • Ability and willingness to work in environments including industrial, manufacturing, and power facilities
  • Prioritize work according to contract obligations
  • Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts and on-call per site needs
  • Occasional overnights may be required per hub needs
Desired Characteristics
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field
  • Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical/Electronic field
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of personnel at all levels inside and outside of the Wind Farm
  • Wind turbine experience
  • Initiative and ability to work without direct supervision
  • Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience
  • Experience using hydraulic power tools
  • Experience with heavy equipment for facility maintenance, including crane and rigging knowledge

Please note: This is not a remote position. The work location for this position includes all wind sites within Oklahoma Hub 1. You are expected to work at all sites within this Hub as assigned by your manager.
