Job summary

AustinTexas is seeking a WIC Senior Nutritionist to lead the Pflugerville clinic, overseeing day-to-day activities and serving as a liaison with the program supervisor. You will coordinate staffing, supply needs, incident reporting, and customer service improvements.

You will assess clients, determine eligibility for WIC, and deliver nutrition and breastfeeding education in line with the approved Education Plan. The role requires a Bachelor's in Nutrition and a Texas driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition plus two years of experience in a field related to Nutrition or Dietetics.
• Valid Class C Texas driver’s license.
• Completion of all required WIC modules during the probationary period.
• One year of WIC experience (preferred).
• Experience leading or supervising in WIC (preferred).
• Customer Service experience in a Community Health setting pertaining to Women, Infant and Children (preferred).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.

Responsibilities

• Administer lead responsibilities for day to day activities for WIC clinic.
• Liaison between clinic and Program Supervisor including notification of clinic staffing, supply and equipment needs, report incidents/accidents, and address and resolve immediate customer complaints.
• Assist Management with ensuring implementation of internal standardized process changes.
• Assess income and nutritional needs to determine eligibility for WIC Program according to Federal, State, and local policies and procedures.
• Deliver group and individual nutrition and breastfeeding education according to agency approved Nutrition Education Plan.
• Perform participant income and health screenings including BMI, growth plots and vitality assessments.
• Prescribe supplemental food package, assess need for breastfeeding pumps and supplies.
• Screen immunization records to obtain immunization status.
• Refer participants to appropriate community, health and human service resources as needed.
• Issue and maintain inventory of returned formula, breast pumps and supplies, and educational material according to policy.
• Participate in health fairs, community events and projects and make presentations to groups.
• Prepare bulletin boards with nutrition messages according to agency approved Nutrition Education Plan.
