Lead Wetland Scientist/Delineator

Remote – Texas – San Antonio, Houston, Austin

Role

ICF is seeking an energetic Lead Wetland Scientist / Delineator to join our team and lead field efforts conducting wetland delineations and biological surveys for renewable energy developers, transportation agencies, and other infrastructure projects throughout Texas and the region. In this role, you will:

  • Leverage your technical expertise and regulatory knowledge to understand and solve our clients’ toughest challenges
  • Lead teams of experts in project field efforts focused on wetlands and biology
  • Explore a wide variety of project sites, terrain, and ecological landscapes
  • Learn from talented and collaborative biologists and project managers both in the field and at a desk
  • Hone your technical skills while discussing and debating regulatory shifts and their impacts with your peers
  • Build client relationships under experienced leaders who serve as trusted advisors for our long-time clients
  • Mentor, train, and guide junior staff while exploring opportunities to grow your career
  • Support our team with research, preparation, coordination, and other tasks to keep our team effective
Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Independently lead and perform wetland delineations and functional assessments
  • Assess impacts and prepare technical reports, permit applications, and mitigation plans under agencies like the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
  • Lead and perform plant and wildlife habitat assessments and surveys
  • Provide expertise on complex projects involving environmental laws and agency consultations
  • Support project management activities including client management, documentation, scheduling, scoping, and budgeting
Basic Qualifications
  • BS in Biology, Natural Resource Sciences, Wetland Science, Wildlife, Ecology, Botany, Forest, Environmental Sciences, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in wetland delineations and environmental permitting, with at least 2 years leading field efforts
  • Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications and Attributes
  • Ability to mobilize quickly and travel, including overnight trips
  • Strong knowledge of environmental consulting and law
  • Experience with renewable energy, transportation, water, or infrastructure projects
  • Experience using GPS technologies
  • Strong technical writing skills and permit preparation experience
  • Local candidates preferred due to field work location in Austin, TX
  • Certification as a Certified Wildlife Biologist (CWB) or Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) is a plus
  • Experience mentoring junior staff

Pay Range

The pay range for this position, based on full-time employment, is $67,020.00 - $113,934.00, depending on experience, location, and other factors.
