Job summary

Oshkosh Defense, a leading defense manufacturer, seeks a Senior Process Engineer - Welding to extract, analyze, and estimate labor content for proposals. You will review BOMs, document assumptions, and collaborate with design teams to ensure accurate costs.

Responsibilities include creating production method proposals, establishing manpower and line-balancing data, and supporting program launches with a focus on safety, quality and productivity through lean and Six Sigma principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• Five (5) or more years in costing, estimating, industrial engineering and/or in a related area.
• Experience with Lean and Six Sigma tools in automotive/heavy equipment contexts.
• Proficiency with JD Edwards or AS400; familiarity with data queries and Propricer or similar tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Compare legacy product design to new design to identify labor content differences.
• Review BOM for accuracy to support proposals.
• Estimate labor hours using finance reports and BOE documentation.
• Develop and write production process proposals and manufacturing plans.
• Identify process improvements using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
• Establish manpower requirements, line balances and cycle times.
• Support product launches and participate in program reviews.
