Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is seeking a Welding Engineer to improve welding equipment and processes that enhance quality across production and development programs. You will program and maintain welding systems, identify needs, analyze weld concerns, and propose solutions to engineering leadership.

You will schedule preventive maintenance and provide technical support and training to welders.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree and 5 years of relevant experience.
• NNS Apprentice School graduate may meet minimum qualifications.
• High School/GED with 2 years related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or 4 years non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience.

Responsibilities

• Improve welding equipment and processes to enhance quality results.
• Program and maintain welding equipment and schedule preventive maintenance.
• Provide technical support and training to welders.
• Conduct welding lab support activities and record-keeping per policy.
